JOB DESCRIPTION: MACHINIST CNC OPERATOR LEVEL 1 / APPRENTICE
Employment may include but is not limited to job duties such as to set up and run machines, inspect parts and assist with programming as needed. Assist with machine maintenance tasks such as preparing coolant and adding it to a machine, vacuuming or sweeping chips out of a machine or sweeping them from the work area, assembling a fixture in a machine, measuring parts with a micrometer, plug gauge or go-no go gauge and comparing measurements to a print of the finished work piece, recording measurements in a table on the print or another document. Putting away tools and inspection equipment or other requirements based on shop supervisor assessment of area needs. You will report to Shop Supervisor and company owners, and sometimes work in partnership with other KEM team members. May get involved with setting up a cobot for machine tending of a production scale (repetitive loading) job or help with turnkey system assembly or electrical panel building as needed.

Employment Classification:
IL-1099/Contract for 90 days, followed by consideration for full time employment.
Experience Preferred:
2 yrs CNC mill or lathe experience preferred. Ability to read prints and use measurement gauges such as micrometers or go-no go gauges preferred.
Lunch and Breaks:
Lunch is 30 minutes and is unpaid after completing 4 hours of work. (2) 15-minute paid breaks can be taken, one before lunch and one after lunch.
Technical Training:
Technical training can be made available as needed. Examples may include but is not limited to CAM software training or TMA machinist skills classes.
Holidays and PTO:
For full-time employees, 7-10 paid holidays depending on calendar and market demands. 10 days PTO to start for full time employees.

Payday Frequency:
Every Friday a timecard is submitted via payroll app. Payment via ACH.
