Bromide Metering Skid
This turnkey system metered 52% Calcium Bromide (CaBr2) onto crushed, conveyed coal in a coal-fired power plant to reduce Mercury emissions out the stack. This method of pollution mitigation was very effective in ensuring cleaner air.
Natural Gas Regulation
This piping skid meters natural gas feeding a thermal oxidizer for pollution control of VOCs (volatile organic carbon). The carbon steel piping and frame are painted for corrosion resistance. KEM works with the mechanical designer, the instrumentation provider, the piping fabricator and the end customer to ensure a timely and high quality build for the end customer. KEM develops electrical schematic drawings and builds the junction box or control panel on the system as well. KEM performs continuity and controls testing, monitors the fabricator’s pressure test, and will do on-site startup and training at the end customer’s location.
Box Folding Machine
This prototype folds and staples 3 sizes of boxes around a long hinge for a customer that makes architectural hardware. KEM used mechanical engineering expertise to design the overall system configuration and operation. KEM cut and assembled all aspects of the frame, and designed and machined all the platforms and flippers that make up the surface the box and hinge lay on and accomplish the folding. KEM’s lead panel building staff installed the many pistons and proximity switches, wired up the stapling units, and built both the pneumatic and the electrical control panels that enable operation of the machine. KEM’s PLC programmer designed the HMI screens and programmed the PLC to confirm correct box versus hinge size and enable all phases of the box folding operation.
Oil Distribution System
This 2-pump piping skid circulated oil in an overhead piping loop and included valves and flow transmitters on 16 production lines. The system also monitored level and leak detection in a 15,000 gallon storage tank. The control panel featured an HMI touch screen in the door as well as push buttons for operator input and monitoring, a PLC and (2) 15hp VFDs to vary pump speed according to plant needs.
